Sunday Sew Day........

Today I had a random urge to sew some goodies for two of my favorite girls. I made my niece Lenari a little sundress that was super easy and inexpensive to make. I have been noticing lately, a lot of fabric stores and even Wal-mart, have bolts of this kind of fabric. It has the elastic top part of the dress already sewn into it and sometimes even a hem! All this dress takes is a measurement of the new owners chest and one quick pass with a sewing machine....and Wa-la a cute little sundress:)

My next project was to make a blanket for my gf at home's little princess Cala. Of course I couldn't resist the urge to make something Florida-esque.....although I don't like the overbearing gator gear. I thought this was the perfect compromise. I used the UF fleece on the front and a cute flower flannel for the back and border. I'm really happy with how this turned out and think it will be a cozy little blanket for Cala!

A bridal shower.......

I'm a little late with this post but life has been a bit hectic lately. A couple of weeks ago the lovely Florida ladies threw me a bridal shower. I had no idea anything that we were doing......just jumped in the car and trusted them. It turned out to be a super fabulous day. We started out by going on a winery tour and tasting at San Sabastien winery in St. Augustine. St. Augustine is an absolutely beautiful city, not to mention the oldest city in the US,  if you haven't been put it on your list of places to see one day.

Our tour guide Nickey was amazingly informative and very sweet and attentive to our group of girls. The other people in our group were also great and even did a toast to Chris and I!

After we were done at the winery the girls took me to St. Augustine beach for a great picnic and spoiled me with some really fabulous gifts!

Here are a couple of pictures of the ladies at the beach.
It was a little bit windy but overall an absolutely gorgeous day in Florida
This was my first official celebration as a bride-to-be and made me feel unbelievably special. I've said it before but I will say it again.....I just cannot believe how lucky I am to be so far from home and surrounded by such amazing ladies!

In with the new.....re-purpose the old.......

Our lovely friends, Kim and Danny, pulled a BIG surprise on us this weekend. Our friend Danny  is an amazing carpenter and they both surprised us by designing and making us an amazing tv stand as an engagement present. These pictures do not do the wood detailing justice at all but will give you an idea of what the new set-up looks like. We were so surprised and thrilled with the finished product. This certainly was a huge surprise as we had no idea that they were up to this. Chris even tried to pay Danny for it haha

Our tv used to be on an old desk of Chris's so we, well really I, decided that I should take the desk and re-purpose it into a vanity. We had one big empty corner in our room so I decided that was the perfect spot. Besides, it will just keep me out of Chris's hair in the bathroom when I'm getting ready:) Everyone is happy with the new arrangement!!! Here is the final product
A perfect little place to get ready in the morning

Moose at the beach

This weekend we took the puppies to the beach. Florida heated up this week into the high seventies so we figured it was time to tackle the beach with the dogs. They had an absolute blast running around in the ocean. Although, Moose did get spooked by some pretty big waves......but don't worry he bit them back haha. Here are some fun pics from the first of many beach days of 2011

Fabric, Fabric, Fabric.......

My sewing club partner Kimmy and I are always looking for new projects. Well to be honest we haven't had a club meeting in far too long. I have been on the hunt for some new fabulous fabric to give my living room a facelift. Somehow I got into a gold, cream and espresso colour theme without even knowing it. Although I think this "works" I definitely like to have a little colour in my life!

These days every colour scheme I think about has to do with blue, grey and white because these are our wedding colours. Now that were are only 197 days away from the big day it seems to be consuming me. I'm also crazy about the blue colour of the bridesmaid dresses. Naturally, I have been on the hunt for the perfect blue fabric to re-surface my couch throw pillows and add a pop of colour and life to our living room. I am going to order this dwell studio fabric from Fabric.com so stay tuned for the final results.

I also love this grey dwell studio fabric and may make a couple of smaller throw pillows for the house with it.

A steal of a deal......

Yesterday was Martin Luther Kind day in the US, so I spend most of my day trying to be a productive wedding planner. One of my Mum's co-workers/friends has offered to make truffles for the favour's at our wedding. I did a little tast test of them at Christmas and they are deeeeelish! So one of my many missions yesterday was to find favour boxes for the truffles. I stumbled upon Paper Mart and they have sooooo many options and everything is at such a great price! I just adore the polka-dot boxes and cute little chinese take-out containers
I'm thinking of ordering the smaller version of this one!

They also have some really great wrapping paper options.

I don't really find wedding planning stressful and so far it has been a really fun experience for us and our families. What I find hard is making the choices.....with so many great things out there and available on the internet (etsy) how are you ever supposed to decide??????

Dreaming of a white wedding.......

Lately I have been searching high and low for the perfect centerpiece for our wedding. I know that I want everything to look clean, simple and elegant. White linens and flowers should accomplish this nicely. I also think that it will be a perfect compliment to the rustic interior of the ski chalet our reception is being held in. I stumbled upon this picture online today at Martha Stewart Weddings and just adore it!

7 months to go............

I am very excited that today marks only 7 months to go until the BIG DAY!!!!!! Actually, I'm a little overwhelmed. Now all of those little projects and those "it can wait for later" are starting to pile up. On our holiday at home we spent a lot of time meeting with people and touring the venues. Everyone we met with was so wonderful and it was so exciting to see everything coming together. I have to say my parents have been such a HUGE help and have done a great job with picking vendors and locations.

Here is a little sneak peak of the church and the reception hall:)
The Church is beautiful and is actually an Ontario Heritage building!!
The Reception Venue set up as a ski chalet still......you'll have to use your imagination:)

I was also very lucky to have one of my fave ladies Melissa Hare from Hare Styling come check out the reception venue with me. Melissa is an event planner and interior designer extrordinaire! She thinks of everything!!! Not to mention she has the best aesthetic! If you haven't already be sure to check out her blog.....you will not be disappointed with all the wonderful DIY projects, style and design tips!

Here's to seven more exciting months of wedding planning!
