Weeks 23 & 24

Week 23: June 16th– June 22nd : Baby is the size of……AN EAR OF CORN (8.5 inches and 1.5 lbs)

I was really bad and forgot to take a belly shotL oops! A picture of the painted nursery will have to do. At first I was scared that the colour we chose was too blue but after a couple of days of drying it turned into the perfect combo of blue and mint and I absolutely love the way it is looking. I think this colour makes the nursery cheery and bright and once the rest of the furniture and décor are in I think we will have a hit!

This week was an eventful one. The work week started off with a bang….literally. We had an explosion in our lab that was quite scary. Thankfully, no one was hurt and all that was lost was a lot of equipment and some dishes. I’m sure most people know from watching the news that Southern Alberta had some serious flooding this week as well. We got about 2 months of rain inside of 48 hours which led to the Bow river flooding the city. The devastation has been awful and it is so sad to hear of all of the families losing their homes and being displaced. Thankfully ALL of the Kaiser’s live in the far NW of the city and stayed high and dry. A midst all of the sadness, I like to look for the silver lining, and mine was that the University was closed on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. This ended up giving me a 5 day weekend and seeing that we weren’t supposed to leave our homes it was the perfect time to put my feet up and do a whole lot of relaxing J Something I don’t do very often and I felt great after!

How far along: 23 weeks
Total weight gain: 13 lbs. I was weighed at the Dr. this week……Not that I mind, but I have never seen that number on the scale before J
Stretch marks: Nada
Sleep: Great!
Miss anything? Walking up a flight of stairs and not feeling like an asthmatic
Movement: lots and lots with this little acrobat
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing. Feeling great!
Have you started to show? Most definitely
Gender prediction: Little Miss
Wedding rings on or off? ON
Happy or Moody: Happy!
Looking forward to? Finishing up the nursery…..I can feel the nesting urges coming on strong.

Week 24: June 23rd– June 29th : Baby is the size of……AN EGGPLANT (9 inches (crown to rump aka head to bum) and 1.7 lbs)

As mentioned last week, this week kicked off with 2 days of work. It was glorious! And then reality hit…..since this week was supposed to be the week I gave my students their finals, work has been bonkers. So I got 2 days off but then the 3 days I was at work felt like 8 days crammed into 3 trying to re-organize everything and keep the students happy, which is no easy feat! The best part of this week was ending off with another long weekend to celebrate Canada Day! Chris and I are pretty excited about this since we have been out of the country and haven’t celebrated in a long time J Bring on the bbq’s!!!

How far along: 24 weeks
Total weight gain: I’m guessing about 14lbs because at this point I’m supposed to be gaining a pound a week
Stretch marks: none to report. PHEW!
Sleep: Great!
Miss anything? The comfort of my normal body haha
Movement: A lot. This little lady is a little sassy too and now whenever Chris talks to my belly she stops moving. As soon as he takes his hand away she starts kicking up a storm today. She is already giving her Daddy a hard time and I love it J
Anything making you queasy or sick: having an appetite and eating is the last thing I need to worry about! I want to eat everything in sight!
Have you started to show? Feeling more large and in charge every day
Gender prediction: Little Miss
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody: Happy!

Looking forward to? Seeing my parents and hosting them for Stampede!!!

We hope every one had a wonderful Canada Day weekend
xoxo

Week 22......

June 9th– June 15th : Baby is the size of……A PAPAYA…..(I swear these fruit and vegetable sizes do not go in order)

The Kaiser Clan had another very busy week. I have been feeling pretty good lately but I swear I have doubled in size this week. It felt like every day I was waking up bigger. Chris is still the greatest husband/dad-to-be. He is constantly taking the load off at home and helping me rest more by making lunches, walking the dog and helping me with anything I need. He came home from working up north on Thursday night to an absolute disaster in our closet. I mention below that I am missing a lot of my clothes and getting dressed in the morning is a bit frustrating at times. I absolutely tore our closet apart this week trying to find a specific cardigan. I am a bit embarrassed to post this picture of the disaster I created but it is too funny not to share. It’s a good thing my wonderful husband has a good sense of humour…..

This was also my busiest week of work yet and I am definitely feeling the effects of getting bigger and needing more rest. However, I am still in love with my job. My research is going great and I am so happy to be back teaching again and have (for the most part) a great group of students! Of course, there are always a few that make life interesting/difficult/frustrating but out of the 100 students I have I would say I only have 10 pains in the you know what.  I got to finish my crazy work week with another glorious prenatal massage. I absolutely love the massage therapist I am going to and feel wonderful when I leave. What pregnant woman doesn’t deserve a little pampering right? Especially when it’s covered by benefits!!!!

Back to the babe…..we picked out a paint colour and will start painting the nursery this weekend. Stay tuned for lots of pictures……below is the before picture:

And some bump pictures from earlier this week:

How far along: 22 weeks
Total weight gain: I think around 13 lbs. I go to the doctor next week and will know for sure
Stretch marks: none to report. PHEW!
Sleep: Pretty good these days, besides having my first crazy labour dream. I swear these pregnancy dreams are loco
Miss anything? Being able to wear whatever I want. I am already getting sick of some of my maternity clothes and I still have 4 months of quality time with themL (see picture above)
Movement: Tonnes! Our little miss is a gymnast in training
Anything making you queasy or sick: Other than some intense heartburn I feel great!
Have you started to show? There is no hiding this bump
Gender prediction: Little Miss
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody: Happy for the most part. Definitely feeling grumpy some days but I chalk that up to this week being crazy at work and not the pregnancy.
Looking forward to? Going shopping for the nursery furniture and painting this weekendJ

Hope everyone has a wonderful week:)
xoxo

Week 21......

Week 21: June 2nd– June 8th : Baby is the size of……A SPAGHETTI SQUASH

Baby girl is now 10.5 inches long and weighs one whole pound! Way to go little lady! We had another very busy week, but another good one. I was absolutely slammed at work. My lab work is piling up by the day and teaching is keeping me really busy as well. I am still swimming at lunches and taking Moose on big long walks. I definitely think that staying active has really helped with my energy levels and overall body comfort. Except this dang rib pain is still lingering……I spoke too soon and thought it was gone .

This weekend I went to Canmore for a girlfriend's stagette. We went on a beautiful hike (see pics), went out for an amazing dinner and then spent the night in chalet's. There were 18 of us and it was a total blast.....even as the sober pregnant girl. I am really starting to enjoy being the only sober one at these events because I always get to be everyone's memory. Fun for me, maybe not for them haha!

This week was also the first week I realized that I will need to start to slow down a little bit. I am embracing this new bod just fine and love my bump but I am having a hard time remembering that I can’t go full tilt all day every day and not feel like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck at night. I think I am starting to learn this lesson now so I will “try” to relax and take my time a bit more. Not an easy feat for me. Chris has also been super busy at the clinic so between the two of us we are quite zombie like by the end of the night. We have started to make plans for the nursery decor, ie. paint colour, and will paint next weekend. Stay tuned for updates:)

this tank top is starting to sneak up my belly hehe

How far along: 21 weeks
Total weight gain: About 11 or 12 lbs
Stretch marks: So far so good
Sleep:  Really great for the most part
Miss anything? Nada. I feel very used to this new lifestyle. I always thought I would miss having a glass of wine, surprisingly, I don’t at all.
Movement: Lots of movement. This little lady is getting very strong and we can see her kicking from the outside of my belly now too!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope I’m feeling great
Have you started to show? Absolutely, there is no hiding this bump now
Gender prediction: GIRL
Wedding rings on or off? ON
Happy or Moody: HAPPY
Looking forward to? Painting the nursery and starting to decorate!

Weeks 19 & 20

Week 19: May 19th– May 25th : Baby is the size of……A CANTELOUPE

To say we were excited to find out about our little girl would be an understatement. When the ultrasound tech revealed the gender to us I cried immediately. I think this would have been my reaction regardless of the sex but it was just such an overwhelming feeling of love and joy to know part of the identity of our little nugget. I believe the first words out of Chris’s mouth were “Well, it looks like I need to go and buy a gun”. The look of love and excitement on his face was priceless and all he talks about now is “his princess”. If I was a manipulative person I could probably get him to do anything I wanted right now if I just told him “princess” wanted him to do it haha…….that doesn’t mean I won’t work that to my advantage in the future!

How far along: 19 weeks
Total weight gain: about 9 lbs so far
Stretch marks: nothing to report…..lets hope it stays that way
Sleep: Some nights are great and a few have been restless
Miss anything? Not missing much other than some of my clothes
Movement: Lots and lots….and its still my favourite feeling in the world!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nada
Have you started to show? YES! People are starting to notice and ask me about the babe
Gender prediction: No more predicting, there is definitely a little lady in thereJ
Belly button in or out? Still in but shallow
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody:  Beyond happy to know our little miss is healthy in there
Looking forward to? Decorating the nursery and shopping for our little girl!

Week 20: May 26th– June 1st : Baby is the size of……A LARGE BANANA

Week 20 was another great week! For the last 4 weeks I have been struggling with some pretty bad rib pain on my right side. Chris has been treating me and I have been trying to stay as active as possible and it seems to be working. I was terrified I would be stuck with this for my entire pregnancy because it was making me feel pretty crummy. I don’t know if it is Chris’s magic hands or if whatever was stretching has finally stretched but I’m just so thankful to be feeling a bit better. Considering this has been my only real pregnancy complaint I probably should not even whine, but oh well, it’s going away and I’m THRILLED.

On Tuesday night Ashley, Kyle and Lawson Lieske came over for dinner. Lawson is only 5 weeks old and is such a good baby. He came over wearing a special shirt for his new girlfriend that said “Hey Baby, your crib or mine?”.  Guess who didn’t think that was funny? It is absolutely adorable how protective Chris is over his little princess already. You can just see the overprotective father emerging from him, which I get a huge kick out of and secretly think is the most adorable thing ever.

In other news, one of my teaching assistants asked me if I was pregnant this week. My response was “yes, otherwise I would be concerned with this big belly I’m growing” to which he replied “For the last couple of weeks I was just thinking you had stopped working out!” How great eh! We had a good laugh after and agreed that asking a woman that question might be the most dangerous and risky question on earth haha.

The rest of the week was crazy busy with work as usual but we ended the 20th week by spending the day in Chestemere by the lake. It was a gorgeous day. The boys spent the day fishing while Ashley, Lawson and I relaxed on the dock and soaked up some rays. That’s what I call relaxing! You also can’t beat the view out there either J

The lake with a nice Rocky view in the back ground
Do you think the boys had fun? Apparently they are all in a summer long fishing derby competition now
Mr. Lawson
Happy 3rd birthday to this handsome little man!

How far along: 20 weeks
Total weight gain: I’m still thinking around 10 lbs
Stretch marks: none to report. PHEW!
Sleep: Sleeping great until about 5 am when little Miss Kaiser thinks it is time for a dance party…..It’s the only reason I’ve ever been happy to wake up at 5 am.
Miss anything? My family. It was Kai’s 3rd birthday on Saturday and my parents went to Cayman on Sunday. I wish we could be there with themL
Movement: lots and lots
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope feeling great especially now that my rib pain seems to be calming down
Have you started to show? Definitely showing. I am in a water running class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and try to swim Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch hour and it is definitely funny to see yourself pregnant in a bathing suit. Some of the looks I get at the pool are also adorable
Gender prediction: Let’s just get rid of that predictions since we know we have a little miss……..and cross our fingers that our US tech was good at her job;)
Belly button in or out? Shallow but still in
Wedding rings on or off? On, but I’m definitely noticing the feel tight to get on in the am’s
Happy or Moody: Happy, happy, happy!
Looking forward to? Seeing my parents in a month

Meet our Little Miss.....

As most of you know, Chris and I found out we are expecting this winter. I am now almost 20 weeks along and we are both absolutely thrilled to announce that we have found out we are going to have a little lady!!! Most importantly, our ultrasound let us know that everything with little Miss Kaiser appears to be right on track and nice and healthy. Here are a couple of pictures of her.....I may be biased but I'm pretty sure that she is already the cutest little girl around. Melt!

Poor lady has scrawny little legs like her Mumma!

cute feet!
I will try to be better about blogging and keeping everyone up to date from now on. For those of you who haven't seen me throughout all of this. Here are a few before and after shots of how I'm changing too.

Kaiser Casa.....

Today Chris and I got to do an inspection of our home. We could not be more excited or in love with this house. It is so exciting to see it all come together and we cannot wait to move in! Our date of possession is November 27th. Not too much longer and we will be official home owners.....very exciting but also a little nerve wracking haha. We know that this house is just right for us and will make a wonderful family home for many years to come! So here are the pictures to keep you all in the loop of what the new Kaiser Casa will look like. Hopefully it will compel all of you to visit soon;)

The siding is almost complete. The area around the garage will all be stone.

Chris walking from the mudroom up towards the front door
The kitchen is almost complete. Those three pendant lights are not the ones we picked out.....they installed the wrong ones but will fix them asap.

Kitchen nook looking out towards our deck

Corner walk-in pantry.....cannot wait for this!

View from the nook at our deck

family room and fireplace.......I know Chris is dreaming of his big screen TV above that fireplace

Laundry room

Bonus room upstairs

Guest bathroom upstairs

So there it is and there isn't a whole lot that needs to be done before we are ready to move in. I will certainly post more pictures when everything is complete and we have our furniture in.  As you can see we have plenty of room for visitors and cannot wait to host and entertain in our new digs.....start booking your trips now:)

Other than the house excitement everything else is going great in Calgary. We ran a groupon promotion  for the clinic this week and had a fantastic response. All in all we are still adjusting to life in Calgary but know that this is a fantastic place for us to start the business and our (hopefully) settled down lives.......after the last few months I definitely don't feel like moving again haha
